Tour Itinerary:


The day starts with a visit to the Jvari monastery, dating from the 6th century. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, from where there is spectacular view of town Mtskheta. After visiting the Jvari church, we drive 50 minutes to Gori-a city located in central Georgia. Gori is one of the oldest towns in Georgia, but it is famous world-wide as the birthplace of Joseph Stalin.  An optional visit to the Stalin museum where his original house is located. We continue to Uplistsikhe - one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia, dating from 7th century BC. Located in the heart of the country and on the famous Silk Road, it emerged as an important political and trade center of Georgia. Moreover, it was a hub of pagan religion. We spend an hour to explore this interesting cave town. After visiting Uplistsikhe we have lunch (Optional visit to a local organic winery with organic wine and food). On the way back to Tbilisi we visit Mtskheta, a 3000-year-old town and the first capital of the eastern Georgian kingdom of Iberia. In Mtskheta we visit the Svetitskhoveli cathedral-another UNESCO World Heritage Site. After exploring the cathedral,  free time for souvenir shopping before returning to Tbilisi.
